Institutions and mutual funds hold large stakes and bring scrutiny and liquidity.
Mutual funds, insurance companies, pension funds and foreign institutions own large chunks of many Indian stocks.
High institutional ownership often signals that professional investors have done research and found the company credible. It also adds liquidity and oversight.
But institutions can also sell in herds, amplifying moves. Use ownership as one input, not the whole story.
