Who controls a company matters. Check promoter stake and whether it is pledged.
Promoters are the founders or controlling shareholders. A high promoter holding can mean strong alignment with the business; a very low one may mean limited skin in the game.
Pledging is when promoters borrow money against their shares. Heavy pledging is a red flag: if the share price falls, lenders can force-sell, hurting all shareholders.
Always check promoter holding and pledged percentage in the shareholding pattern before investing.
